The Mathematical Sciences discipline offers innovative undergraduate and postgraduate courses with a multi–disciplinary approach to the study of statistical and computational methods, mathematical modelling, and operations research. Major studies are in the areas of:
- Applied Mathematics
- Computational Mathematics
- Core Mathematics
- Discrete Mathematics
- Financial Mathematics
- Operations Research
- Statistics
All courses offer a combination of face–to–face tutorials and computer lab work which gives students a competitive edge when entering the workforce and places them in an excellent position to move into research. Much of the discipline´s research is coordinated by the Institute Health Biomedical Innovation, Institute of Sustainable Resources and the Information Security Institute – information on current Honours and Higher Degree Research projects is available through the faculty´s Mathematical Sciences Research homepage.
Please contact us for further information about any of our courses or research opportunities, or read about careers in Science and Technology.
Real–World Experience
Students gain real world experience while studying their degree through programs which involve:
- Tutorial sessions with industry professionals
- Computer practicals and formalised scientific reporting
