in conjunction with Australasian Computer Science Week, Jan 22 – Jan 25, 2008
The 6th Australasian Symposium on Grid Computing and e-Research (AusGrid 2008) will be held on Thursday 24th January, in Wollongong, NSW, in conjunction with Australasian Computer Science Week, Wollongong, Jan 22 - Jan 25, 2008.
Interest in Grid computing in Australia and internationally is rapidly growing, driven by real-world applications of increasing scale and complexity.
The Australian Partnership for Advanced Computing and its state partners are supporting e-Research by deploying a national grid infrastructure and working to grid-enable applications in areas such as physics, astronomy, chemistry, geoscience, earth sciences and life sciences. The Australian Research Council has recently funded a number of projects under a special research initiative in e-Research. The Australian Government Department of Education, Science, and Technology (DEST) has formed an e-Research Coordinating Committee to develop a framework for national support of e-Research.
Topics of interest for the symposium include:
The symposium is primarily targeted at researchers from Australia and New Zealand, however in the spirit of grid computing, which aims to enable collaboration of distributed virtual organizations, we encourage papers and participation from international researchers.
We expect to provide time for a panel session or group discussion on topics of particular interest.
The Australasian Computer Science Week is the annual meeting for computer science researchers and educators held in the Australasian region. It includes the Australasian Computer Science Conference (ACSC), the premiere generalist forum for Australasian computer science academics, as well as several specialist conferences and workshops. Registration for ACSW enables participation in all the ACSW conferences and workshops, including AusGrid 2008.
